2023 Tri-Cities Chinese New Year Celebration

The 2023 Chinese New Year Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 28th, featuring Chinese cultural performances brought by our friends and families in Tri-Cities as well as a Chinese New Year Dinner Party.

The annual Chinese New Year Celebration is held by Tri-Cities Chinese American Association (TCCAA), with the support of many people. Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in Chinese culture. This celebration is the biggest event of the year for the Chinese community in Tri-

Cities and has also become a signature event around the area.

This year, we are welcoming Year of the Lunar in 2020.  Lunar New Year is the beginning of a calendar year whose months are moon cycles, based on the lunar calendar or lunisolar calendar. The Chinese Zodiac is a traditional Chinese way to count the years and a unique culture among Chinese people. It is based on a cycle of twelve years, and each year is related to an animal sign within the cycle. The Year of the Rat is the beginning of a new 12-year cycle, representing a brand new start.

To celebrate the Year of the Lunar, TCCAA will be having a big dinner party and a celebration with a variety of Chinese cultural performances, including Beijing opera, Chinese folk dance, Chinese martial arts demonstration and others. There will also be Chinese calligraphy exhibition and some interactive activities for all participants to experience the Chinese culture and enjoy the atmosphere of Chinese New Year.

The TCCAA Chinese New Year Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at Chief Joseph Middle School Auditorium. The event is open to the public. The dinner party starts at 12:15 pm. Dinner for non-member is $10 for adults and $6 for children aged 5-12. Tickets are available at the door. The reception and performances will start at 11:00 pm. Admission is free. TCCAA invites everyone in Tri-Cities to join this event and celebrate Chinese New Year together!
